From market signal to published — the loop in six steps
A walkthrough of the workflow: monitor, find, substantiate, write, decide, learn. And what goes wrong when a step is skipped.
Content work rarely fails in the writing. It fails because nobody knows what should be written, or because what was published was never followed up. The loop below is deliberately boring — it makes the work recurring instead of heroic.
1. Monitor
Sources, news feeds and your own site's visibility are followed continuously. The point is not to read everything, but to avoid having to search when something actually happens.
2. Find
Signals become prioritised opportunities with a clear why-now. Without a why-now, content becomes timeless in the bad sense: it could just as well have been published two years ago, and nobody was waiting for it.
3. Substantiate
The opportunity is tied to sources and checked facts before a single sentence is written. This step is the one most often skipped, and it is also where most incorrect claims originate.
4. Write
Drafts per channel, in the right tone and the right language. The same evidence, different formats — not the same text pasted in four places.
5. Decide
Approve, request a rewrite or reject. Previous versions are never overwritten, so it is always possible to see what changed and why.
6. Learn
The outcome is logged — even when it is thin — and shapes the next recommendation. A system without this step repeats its mistakes with consistent quality.
